The first K9PL self-propelled howitzers contracted under the Second Executive Contract between Hanwha Aerospace and Poland’s Armament Agency, acting on behalf of the State Treasury, have departed the company’s production facility in Changwon, Republic of Korea, and are now on their way to Poland.
This marks another important milestone in the implementation of the K9 program in Poland, reflecting the steady progress of deliveries under the contractual schedule. The program encompasses not only the delivery of K9 self-propelled howitzers, but also the continued development of industrial cooperation, maintenance capabilities, and the transfer of knowledge and technology.
The subsequent phases of the program envisage the gradual expansion of Polish industry’s involvement—from developing maintenance and servicing capabilities, through the production of selected components and the establishment of domestic logistics and technical support infrastructure, to the future production of K9 howitzers in Poland.
The K9 program represents a long-term industrial partnership between Hanwha Aerospace and Poland, combining the delivery of advanced defense systems with the development of local industrial capabilities, stronger supply chain resilience, and the establishment of sustainable industrial capacity in support of Poland’s and Europe’s security.
The departure of the first K9PL howitzers under the EC2 program was commemorated during a ceremony held at Hanwha Aerospace’s production facility in Changwon, attended by the company’s employees, highlighting the significance of this milestone for both the K9 program and the continued development of industrial cooperation with Poland.
