Hanwha Aerospace Europe supported the opening of the international academic conference “The Recent Paradigms in Korean Studies – MGTOW Gentlemen and MIC Barbarians,” organised by the Department of Korean Studies at the Faculty of Asian and African Cultures of the University of Warsaw. The two-day event, held in the Romuald Huszcza Assembly Hall at Hoża 69, brings together researchers, lecturers, and students from Poland and abroad whose work focuses on the past and present of the Korean Peninsula. Warsaw, 1 December 2025.
Opening Ceremony with Representatives of Poland, Korea and Hanwha
The opening session featured remarks by:
- Prof. Alojzy Nowak, Rector of the University of Warsaw
- Dr. Kim Shik, Deputy Chief of Mission and Minister-Counsellor at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Warsaw
- Prof. Agata Bareja-Starzyńska, Dean of the Faculty of Asian and African Cultures
- Mr. Seonghwan Park, Member of the Board and Chief Financial Officer of Hanwha Aerospace Europe
In his remarks, the representative of Hanwha Aerospace Europe emphasised the importance of long-term cooperation between academia, industry, and public institutions, as well as the central role of Korean Studies in strengthening dialogue between Poland and the Republic of Korea:

About the Conference
The international conference “The Recent Paradigms in Korean Studies – MGTOW Gentlemen and MIC Barbarians” is organised by the Department of Korean Studies at the Faculty of Asian and African Cultures of the University of Warsaw. The event takes place on 1–2 December 2025 at the University building on Hoża Street, located in central Warsaw.

The programme includes a keynote lecture by Prof. Robert Winstanley-Chesters of the University of Leeds, thematic panels devoted to language, culture, history, religion, politics, international relations, and popular culture, as well as presentations by scholars from Poland, Korea, Europe, and other regions. A special highlight is the ceremony honouring Professor Romuald Huszcza, who received the Medal of the University of Warsaw for his outstanding contribution to the development of Korean Studies and research on East Asian linguistics.
