The formation of the 2nd Missile Brigade marks another important step in the development of the Polish Armed Forces’ precision rocket strike capabilities. Homar-K systems will be an important part of the new unit’s equipment. Jacek Cyrek, President of Hanwha Aerospace Europe, attended the ceremony marking the beginning of the Brigade’s formation, held in Łowicz on 27 September 2026.

The 2nd Missile Brigade is a new unit of the Polish Rocket and Artillery Forces, established as part of the ongoing development of the capabilities of the Polish Armed Forces. According to the Polish Ministry of National Defence, the Brigade will now undergo the process of building its structures from the ground up, introducing advanced weapon systems, integrating its subunits and ultimately achieving full operational readiness.

Homar-K systems will be an important part of the 2nd Missile Brigade’s equipment. The programme is a tangible example of the strategic cooperation between Hanwha Aerospace and Poland. The K239 Chunmoo is integrated with a Polish chassis as well as Polish command-and-control and fire-control systems, while the programme continues to expand the involvement of the Polish defence industry.

The next stage of this cooperation will be the localisation of rocket production in Poland. To this end, Hanwha Aerospace and WB Group have established the Hanwha WB Advanced System joint venture, which will be responsible for producing CGR-080 guided rockets for the Homar-K system. The development of local production capabilities is intended to strengthen security of supply and further enhance the capabilities of Poland’s defence industry.

At the invitation of Colonel Daniel Noga, Commander of the newly forming 2nd Missile Brigade, Jacek Cyrek, President of Hanwha Aerospace Europe, attended the ceremonial formation event held at the Old Market Square in Łowicz.

The event was also attended by Paweł Bejda, Secretary of State at the Ministry of National Defence; Lieutenant General Marek Sokołowski, General Commander of the Branches of the Armed Forces; and Lieutenant General Sławomir Owczarek, Deputy General Commander of the Branches of the Armed Forces. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz addressed a letter to the soldiers of the newly forming Brigade.

The formation of the 2nd Missile Brigade opens another chapter in the development of modern capabilities for Poland’s Rocket and Artillery Forces. Hanwha Aerospace Europe will continue its cooperation with Polish partners, supporting the further development and localisation of the Homar-K system and the expansion of domestic industrial capabilities.
