Hanwha showcases next-generation systems based on artificial intelligence and unmanned technologies at ADEX 2025

During the Seoul International Aerospace & Defense Exhibition (ADEX) 2025, held from October 17 to 27, 2025, in Seoul, Hanwha Aerospace presents comprehensive and integrated solutions for the modern battlefield. The systems on display utilize artificial intelligence technologies that enhance their effectiveness and operational autonomy.

The exhibition covers proven platforms from four key domains: land, sea, air, and space. The presented solutions demonstrate how Hanwha’s technologies can connect these domains into a single, intelligent operational ecosystem of the future.

In Seoul, Hanwha Aerospace presents a new generation of land systems, including solutions based on cooperation between human operators and unmanned systems (Manned–Unmanned Teaming).

One of the main highlights this year is the Themis-K, a multi-purpose unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) integrating Hanwha Aerospace’s remotely controlled weapon station (RCWS) with the Themis platform developed by Milrem Robotics. Alongside it are other unmanned vehicles, such as the Arion-SMET and GRUNT, previously showcased, demonstrating interoperability with Hanwha’s core land combat systems, including the K9 self-propelled howitzer.

The Hanwha display also includes the evolution of its artillery systems. The new K9A3, an upgraded version of the K9 self-propelled howitzer, features capabilities for remote and autonomous operation, automatic emplacement, and “follow-the-leader” movement. With its range extended to over 80 kilometers, the K9A3 enhances crew safety and fire support efficiency while requiring minimal personnel.

The Chunmoo system, known in Poland as Homar-K, is presented in new configurations that enable simultaneous firing of rockets of different calibers. The launcher features an electric drive system and enhanced self-protection. For the first time, a model of the Laser-Guided Precision Weapon (L-PGW) is also showcased, representing a key element of the “Chunmoo 3.0” program.

The exhibition area also features the WAV, an export wheeled armored vehicle based on the modular Tigon platform, adaptable for various mission equipment, as well as the Redback, a modern heavy infantry fighting vehicle, and the TAipers anti-tank guided missile, designed for integration with multiple land platforms.

In the field of air defense, Hanwha introduces a multi-layered system combining a state-of-the-art AESA radar with an AI-based command and control network. The system enables a coordinated response from various effectors, including a next-generation interceptor, a mobile short-range air defense system (SHORAD), a high-power laser weapon system, and counter-drone solutions.

As an example of cooperation with General Atomics, Hanwha also presents the GE-STOL unmanned aerial vehicle. Its high-lift design allows short takeoffs and landings while maintaining medium-altitude, long-endurance (MALE) capabilities. In its reconnaissance configuration, the UAV can remain airborne for over 20 hours.

In the naval domain, Hanwha Ocean presents the KSS-III (Jangbogo-III) submarine and the 5,500-ton AI Frigate. The frigate features an AI-based system capable of self-diagnosing damage and guiding optimal recovery procedures. For the first time, Hanwha also unveils the “Smart Battleship” concept, based on Hanwha Systems’ Integrated Combat System, which combines the Combat Management System (CMS), the Engineering Control System (ECS), and the Integrated Bridge System (IBS). Its AI-enabled automatic target recognition and fire management functions allow for effective mission execution in complex maritime environments.

“At ADEX 2025, we are demonstrating how our proven platforms are evolving into fully integrated AI-based solutions,” said Dong Kwan Kim, Vice Chairman of Hanwha Group. “By showcasing AI technologies implemented in our land, naval, and air systems, we reaffirm our long-term commitment to developing our competencies and to being a reliable and responsible partner for our customers worldwide.”
